Stormcloud Brewing Company has announced the next recipient of its Stormcloud Builds Community fundraising initiative. For the winter 2015/16 quarter, Stormcloud is helping to support the Benzie County Water Festival.
The Benzie County Water Festival will benefit from a fundraising event happening Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Stormcloud Brewing Company. 50% of all sales in Stormcloud’s downtown Frankfort pub, between the hours of 4-6pm, will be donated directly to the Benzie County Water Festival.

The Benzie County Water Festival, happening February 2-20, 2016, is an annual event designed to attract, entertain, educate and activate individuals and community groups about the waters of Benzie County and Northwest Lower Michigan. Now in its 6th year, the Benzie County Water Festival features speeches from water luminaries, interactive presentations, campaigns to protect water locally and address global water challenges, and much more. Organized by the Benzie Community Water Council, more information about the festival is available online:

The Saturday fundraiser also coincides with Shiver By The River, an annual winter celebration in the communities of Frankfort and Elberta. The 2016 Shiver By The River event features the 6th Annual Betsie Bay Frozen 5K, a Winter Parade, Horse-Drawn Carriage Rides, Kids’ Games and more. Stormcloud Brewing is taking part in the winter fun with a Curling Tournament happening outside and next-door to Stormcloud’s pub. The northern Michigan brewery will also host representatives from nearby Crystal Mountain to provide free demonstrations for riding Fat Tire Snow Bikes.

Stormcloud Co-Owner Rick Schmitt says “It’s going to be a great day to celebrate winter while raising money for a valuable event that benefits the community and beyond,’ says Schmitt. “Fresh water is a resource that we are fortunate to have in abundance here in Michigan. The Benzie County Water Festival provides an important reminder that people of all ages can work together to protect that resource which is so vital to our way of life.”

As part of its Stormcloud Builds Community initiative, Stormcloud Brewing Company selects one charitable organization making a difference in northern Michigan to share its message with Stormcloud’s customers and to help raise funding for the organization. Recipients are chosen every month during the summer season and quarterly thereafter.
