Recap of 2012 Pedals & Vines at Woldumar Nature Center

Last Friday we helped sponsor Woldumar Nature Center's very first beer and wine tasting event, Petals & Vines. There were four breweries (Darkhorse Brewing Co.Arcadia Ales Brewing Co., and Mt. Pleasant Brewing Co.Dragonmead Microbrewery) and two wineries (Burgdorf's Winery and Sandhill Crane Winery) represented. There was also live music and a delicious, light dinner of kabobs, rice, pita & hummus, and fresh fruit. The Red Ledge Brewers Club of Grand Ledge was also there doing a homebrew demonstration.
Recap of 2012 Pedals & Vines at Woldumar Nature CenterFor this being the first event of its kind at Woldumar, it seemed to come off as a great success. There were nearly 200 people in attendance and everyone appeared to be enjoying the beers, wines, and beautiful late spring weather. The variance in beers that were available was also a cool aspect of the night; Darkhorse featured some darker beers (their Black Ale & Blueberry Stout) while Arcadia and Dragonmead focused on some lighter beers. Mt. Pleasant brought along a brown ale as well as their Gruit, a refreshing spring beer.

All in all, this event was both fun and productive. It helped raise a lot of needed financial support for this wonderful, non-profit nature center and also gave a couple hundred beer lovers a relaxing evening of drinks, music, and fun. Events like this are great because you get to meet people that are not only excited about good beer, but also about getting involved in the community, which we feel is so tremendously important. We were proud to help sponsor Petals & Vines and look forward to working with Woldumar on more events in the future.
