Hops at 84 East is located at 84 East 8th Street in downtown Holland. The former 84 East and Froggy’s restaurants have been combined and renovated with a new bar featuring 70 taps of craft beer, cider, and wine and the kitchen enhanced to include old menu favorites as well as new 600 degree brick pizza ovens. Rotating taps for the grand opening weekend included KBS, Devil Dancer, and Backwoods Bastard from Founders, and Q Falls, Oracle, and Wedding Ale from Bell’s. A special “hop-rocket” wet hopped craft beer was also tapped each day for the celebration. Live music was featured all weekend long with Further Closer on Friday, De Hurricane Reggae Band on Saturday, and Matt Plessner on Sunday.
The extensive beer menu includes many favorites with local breweries complimenting craft selections from around the world and a wide range of styles. For my first visit, I ordered a flight of all Michigan beers including Short’s, Greenbush, and Tapistry. Mead and cider is featured as well including B. Nektar, Virtue, and J.K.’s Scrumpy. And yes, Hops at 84 East does fill growlers! Check the Facebook page for the latest taps ( as selections change daily.

Pizzas are the featured menu item with fresh dough brought in daily from the local deBoer Bakery. A variety of specialty pizzas are offered including Santa Fe Chicken, Mediterranean, and “Smog” - Sausage, Mushroom, Onion, and Green Pepper. Hops at 84 East also offers a full menu including sandwiches, burgers, salads, and appetizers. I was happy to find some vegan options which included black bean tacos featuring a veggie black bean patty from Ope’s of Kalamazoo. Also featured is a “Froggy Burger” featuring Froggy’s recipe chili dog sauce.

Hops at 84 East is open 7 days a week with lunch, dinner, and late night menus available. Hours are as follows:

11am - Midnight

11am - 1am

Noon - 1am

Noon - 9pm
