Founders Tap Takeover at Pints and Quarts in Muskegon

Muskegon has yet to have it's own brewery. This may change later this year as Unruly Brewing company has announced plans to open. In the meantime, the premier drinking establishment of choice for fans of fermented beverage is Pints & Quarts. "P's & Q"s," as it also referred to, features over thirty different taps featuring many Michigan beers including regularly rotating taps from Short's, Odd Side Ales, and recently Greenbush.

Most popular are the all night Happy Hour Thursdays which include half-off appetizers, drink specials, and occasional "tap nights" where a breweries such as Short's, Dark Horse, or Bell's have taken over the taps. This past Thursday Founders of Grand Rapids made their "tap night" debut featuring selections ranging from Imperial Stout to All Day IPA. My personal favorite was the Backwoods Bastard, a bourbon aged version of the Dirty Bastard served in an 8 ounce snifter.

I took advantage of the appetizer special with the Thai Lettuce wraps, one of a handful of healthier, less than 500 calorie menu options. Other popular appetizers include wings, nachos, firecracker shrimp, and pretzel bread baked fresh from Verdoni's, a nearby affiliated Italian restaurant and bakery. For those looking for heartier fare, other menu items include a variety of burgers (check out the fork & knife chili cheese burger sometime,) soups, salads and sandwiches. I also opted for a cup of the soup of the day, beer cheese.

A reprentative from Founders was on hand giving out free stickers and bottle openers, as well as raffle tickets to win t-shirts and other prizes. The event was an incredible success and for the first time in tap night history all drafts were sold out by the end of the night. Undoubtedly, this will not be the last time that Founders visits Muskegon.
