Ice Box Brand introduces hand-crafted ice cream bar made with Pigeon Hill beer

The idea for Ice Box Brand ice cream bars started with owner Chris Morin and his family purchasing an ice cream truck on a whim. Originally, they toyed around a little with selling more traditional commercially mass-produced ice cream bars from the truck; However, Chris thought he could do better and hand-craft his own ice cream bars with a focus on local and quality ingredients. The emphasis on local and fresh hand-crafted products is what led them to collaborate with Pigeon Hill Brewing Company to create a very unique ice cream bar made with the Pigeon Hill LMFAO (Let Me Fetch An Oatmeal) Stout.
“Belly Full of Hoppiness” is the result of this collaboration. In addition to the beer (which is cooked to remove alcohol,) the ice cream bar also features a buttery pretzel crust, is dipped in chocolate and topped with dry roasted peanuts. The ice cream bar is just 1 of 8 varieties currently being produced by Ice Box Brand- other flavors include tasty treats such as the Carmel Cashewlicious, Key Lime Pie, and Fancy Pants Raspberry ice cream bars while additional new varieties are already in the planning stages.

Ice Box Brand ice cream bars are currently available at over a dozen locations everywhere including The Mitten Bar in Ludington, 5/3rd Ballpark in Grand Rapids, the Hoportunists Hot Spot Homebrew store in Montague and of course Pigeon Hill Brewing Company in Muskegon. And as far as Pigeon Hill Brewing Brewing Company goes, the brewery has been focussed on increasing production due to the high summer demand. Mainstays such as Walter Blonde Ale, Shifting Sands IPA, and the LMFAO (Let Me Fetch An Oatmeal) Stout have been first priority while expanded soon to fill all 12 taps which will allow for additional seasonal releases like the recent Skeeter on My Wheater Ale. Additional 7bbl fermenters have been ordered to help boost production. Pigeon Hill also plans to offer outdoor seating in the near future and Topshelf Pizza has also moved into to the adjacent space and will be opening a downtown pizzeria at that location soon.
