Brutal winter weather conditions did not get in the way of this year’s anniversary party of White Flame Brewing Co. which was celebrating 2 years as “Hudsonville’s oldest brewery.”

This year’s celebration began at noon with the dual release of both the Black Flame Anniversary Imperial Stout 22 oz. bottles and Super-G IPA 4-pack can release. The official party began at 5 PM with food provided courtesy RnR Comfort Foods via truck and bands playing into the evening.

As was the case with their 1-year anniversary, White Flame opened up the brewhouse for the event and put on some specialty taps which for this year included a version of the Black Flame on nitro and the “Fight the Power” sour. The musical duo of Sam Kenny & Emma Loo was first up with an impressive set of covers including everything from Miley Cyrus to the Pixies. RnR Comfort Foods provided a very reasonably priced menu which featured their own award-winning White Flame P.O.P. Porter chili. Door prizes for the event included to tickets to Winter Beer Fest and local supergoup Funkle Jesse closed out the night.

White Flame has big plans for 2014 with an expansion to include upgrading to a 15 barrel system to boost distribution, increased customer seating and the addition of a kitchen to provide their own food. This year’s first ever can release of the Super-G IPA (named for the prominent use of Galena hops,) was done in conjunction with Michigan Mobile Canning. If you missed out on this or the Black Flame Imperial Stout, a limited supply was made available to local restaurants and stores (including Sicialiano’s Market,) as well as what remained at the brewery.
