The evening will begin with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 3:00pm, accompanied by the Kalamazoo Pipe Band. Come enjoy the food, atmosphere and handcrafted Ales while contributing for a great cause! Our entire opening day will also be our first “Drink One Down – Support Your Town” in Kalamazoo. All the proceeds from tap sales during this event are donated to a local charity, Kalamazoo’s first being the Big Brothers and Big Sisters – A Community of Caring.
Established in 1996 in Battle Creek, MI, Arcadia continues to carve out its niche in the craft beer community with world class and medal winning Ales handcrafted with British inspiration on an authentic Peter Austin Brick Kettle brewing system from England. In the style of our Battle Creek roots, the $7 Million Riverfront brewery, pub and kitchen facility in Kalamazoo, Michigan continues our distinctive open top fermentation tradition and proprietary yeast strain, and includes a 50 barrel Sprinkman Brewhouse, a Lambrechts keg filler and cleaner from Belgium, and a Krones 12/22oz bottle filler from Germany. The combined production capacity with both Battle Creek and Kalamazoo locations in 2014 will be over 25,000 barrels (1 bbl=31 gallons), and the Riverfront Brewery, Pub & Kitchen in Kalamazoo was built for future expansion to 60,000 barrels annually. Arcadia produced and sold over 12,000 barrels out of its Battle Creek facility in 2013, which was at maximum capacity.

In addition to Arcadia’s Ales, our Kitchen will feature an all wood-fired BBQ Smoker from Texas, burning pure hickory. Most of our meats will be locally sourced, with many being a byproduct of whole animal/seam butchery. Our chefs will also regularly feature unique vegetarian and gluten free options. Customers will enjoy communal seating and counter service for food, and our Beverage Specialists will provide all beer, wine and soft drink service.

Construction of the Kalamazoo facility began in March of 2013, and this 3 acre site had been vacant over 20 years after being a coal-burning electric plant for over 80 years. Thanks to funding from First National Bank of Michigan, City of Kalamazoo Brownfield Redevelopment Authority, Grants from Michigan Economic Development Corporation, the City of Kalamazoo, SBA guaranteed loans, and Arcadia equity, we have the privilege of bringing this land and its 396 feet of riverfront back to life. Construction will continue this spring and early summer on an outdoor beer garden with amphitheater stage and a Canoe/Kayak launch.
