Grand Rapids Brewing Company To Host Exclusive Screening of Upcoming Brewing Documentary, "Blood, Sweat & Beer"

Barfly Ventures will host a free screening of the yet-to-be-released feature documentary, “Blood, Sweat & Beer” at Grand Rapids Brewing Company (GRBC) and HopCat - Detroit. The film showcases the efforts and passion of the craft beer industry. Barfly hopes the documentary will show the immense dedication that goes into the explosive growth of the craft beer industry and will engage and inspire the local brewing community here in Michigan.

Stormcloud Brewing Company Claims Victory in Michigan Civil Beer War

The war of the North versus the South is over, with history repeating itself. The Michigan Civil Beer War has ended with Stormcloud Brewing Company, a northern newcomer from Frankfort near Traverse City, claiming first place in the inaugural competition.

For Muskegon’s Pigeon Hill Brewing Company’s 1-year anniversary celebration, the brewery brought the party out onto the street with a tent extending out onto Western Avenue for 2 days of pizza, beer, and bands. The weekend featured a series of timed barrel aged beer releases including some exclusives, as well as a variety of styles of music to enjoy. I made sure to attend both days to fully appreciate the brewery’s anniversary experience.

Recap of St. Patrick’s Day Weekend Celebration at Unruly Brewing Co.

Unruly Brewing Co. in Muskegon celebrated St. Patrick’s Day weekend once again in style for 2015 with new beer releases accompanied with Irish-themed music and food options. The Tosspints from Saginaw returned again on Friday to perform their intoxicating brand of Irish Punk Rock and this year also featured an opening set of folk punk from the band Whiskey Drunk of Grand Rapids. I was fortunate to be able to join some friends and enjoy the performances from Unruly’s VIP section at stage side.

When German eyes are smiling? Kuhnhenn Brewery hosted their annual Breakfast of Champions celebration on St. Patrick’s Day. Also known for their solstice events and their German heritage-inspired Oktoberfest, the Irish themed day is a favorite among both locals and craft beer enthusiasts.

Pigeon Hill Brewing Celebrates One Year Anniversary With $1 Million Expansion

Pigeon Hill Brewing is currently working on a $1 million expansion of the brewery! They will be expanding into the space next door that was once Club Envy. After only one year in business they need the extra space to keep up with distribution.

Recap of the Inaugural Barrel Aged Bootleg Bash at Saugatuck Brewing Co.

Saugatuck Brewing Co. recently opened up their brew house for their sold out Inaugural Barrel Aged Bootleg Bash. Tickets were $15 and included 10 drink tokens good for sample pours and a special event sampling glass. I was fortunate to be able to attend with some friends. Being able to hang out in the brew house was an enjoyable and unique opportunity. The Banquet Hall also featured a casual environment including live music.
