For the 2nd year in a row, Logan’s Alley timed their Hosplam tapping at when their doors opened at 7 AM Monday morning for all the early birds out there wanting to get the freshest possible taste of this year’s Bells Double IPA release. And for the 2nd year in a row, I few friends and I headed out to join in the celebration. For those unaware, Logan’s Alley is open 7 days a week from 7 AM until 2 AM with a full bar of craft microbrews and a menu of unique bar food to complement whether there for breakfast, lunch, dinner or even a late-night snack.
As now tradition, for the release party all of the tap handles were replaced with Hopslam handles although there was still plenty of other craft beers flowing; you just had to find the beer menu to make your selection. Their new chef had plenty of January specials to offer including Thai Wings and a trumped up version of the classic Deep Fried Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwich which was Tempura Battered and boosted with Smoked Pork Belly and also still being served with a glass of chocolate milk.... just add Hopslam and you have a true breakfast of champions!

Logan’s Alley is located at 916 Michigan Street in North East Grand Rapids and is a premier craft drinking establishment morning, afternoon, or night. Multiple Hopslam releases are in progress throughout Michigan and in Muskegon these included a beer dinner at Hobo’s Tavern and a Tap Slam Takeover at Brann’s Steakhouse & Sports Grille. This year’s Hopslam production is the biggest yet. My local corner store, C & K, which missed out last year when the distribution was delayed due to the 2014’s polar vortex, this year received 5 cases. Twisted Rooster in Grand Rapids has also scheduled their Hopslam release this year for February 2nd at 11 AM.
