4th Annual Detroit Beer Week

The fourth annual Detroit Beer Week is currently underway. This event is aimed at celebrating the great city of Detroit in a positive way by bringing people together through beer and good food. It's also a great chance for people to experience some of the unique bars and restaurants throughout the city and to grow awareness & appreciation for these local businesses. This year will be similar to the rest in that it will be chock full of fun events, and the World Series coming to The D is certainly an added bonus!
Tashmoo on the Road: Blocktoberfest at Atwater Brewery
On Saturday (tonight), Ocotber 20th, the Tashmoo Biergarten in conjuction with Atwater Brewery will be holding a Blocktoberfest Party. The event will feature beers from Atwater and food from local vendors. Admission is free and tickets for beer can be purchased inside. This will be the official kick-off party for the week long festival and Atwater will also be releasing their Dunkel at the event to commemorate their 15th anniversary of making German style beers. New Belgium Tap Takeover at One-Eyed Betty's

On Monday, Ocotber 22nd, there will be a New Belgium tap takeover at One Eyed Betty's in Ferndale. Monday is the first day that kegs from New Belgium will be available in the Michigan market so this will be a special night for the Colorado based brewery. They will be featuring their normal line of beers including Fat Tire, Shift Pale Lager, Ranger IPA as well the highly acclaimed "Lips of Faith" experimental beer series which includes Biere de Mars, Peach Porch Lounger, Cocoa Mole and La Folie. One Eyed Betty's will also be featuring food specials. This is a super cool place if you have never been there and this event will be a great opportunity to try some of New Belgium's great beers.


DBW Complement/Contrast Beer Dinner at Kuhnhenn Brewing Co.

On Tuesday, October 23rd, Kuhnennn Brewing Co. will be hosting what looks to be an outstanding beer dinner focusing on complimenting and contrasting flavors. The them for the dinner will be The Egg and the details are as follows...

Chicken, duck, quail, ostrich, fish, pterodactyl; the common theme of this dinner is egg. Each dish will feature egg in its preparation, and then be served with two beers, showing the complementary and contrasting flavors between beer and food. Owner John Lowman and Chef Brian Pierce from the Wrought Iron Grill in Owosso are bringing their culinary show on the road. Taste their delicious creations alongside the award-winning beers of Bret and Eric Kuhnhenn of Kuhnhenn Brewery in Warren. Enjoy a Fluffer Session IPA as a reception beer, before heading down a road of gastronomic exploration.

  • Course 1: Ceviche w/ Tangerine Wit and Penetration Porter
  • Course 2: Scotch Quail Egg w/ 9 (Nine) and White Devil
  • Course 3: Curried Deviled Egg w/ DRIPA and Anneliese Amber
  • Course 4: Smothered NY Strip w/ Export Stout and Aldebaron
  • Course 5: Creme Brulee Bread Pudding w/ Creme Brulee Java Stout and Play in the Hay

The reception begins at 6:30 pm and tickets are $55 and you can pay in advance or on the day of the event. The dinner seating is strictly limited to 70 guests and RSVP today at 586-979-8361.


93.9 The River Live Music Session and Beer Ranger at One-Eyed Betty's

On Wedensday, Ocotber 24th, at 4pm One-Eyed Betty's is live music and New Belgium's beer rangers from 6 to 8 p.m. with tastings and swag.


Hit the Bricks! BRIK Red Red Brick Bike Ride (starting at Nancy Whiskey)

On Wedensday, Ocotber 24th, MillKing It Productions will be hosting a BRIK Red Red Brick Ride which will be a bike ride and tour of the brick paved streets in downtown Detroit. The event is designed to celebrate both these old and unique city streets and also to promotoe MillKing It's BRIK Red beer. The ride begins at Nancy's Whiskey in Detroit at 5:30 sharp and will be roughly a 12 mile ride. Cold beer, beer can chicken and live music will be featured at Nancy's Whiskey (truly a legendary and unique bar in Detroit) after the ride .

Motor City Bike and Brew Tour with Motor City Brew Tours

On Wednesday, October 24th at 5:30pm with Motor City Bike and Brew Tour learn about Detroit's brewing past and present with Motor City Brew Tours. You will see former brewery sites in downtown Detroit and bike by the new generation of breweries. This is a 9-mile tour route for all biking abilities. Ticket includes guided bike tour with support staff, historical overview at each brewery site, two Atwater beers and pizza. Please note - "BYOB" - Bring Your Own Bike. Tickets $29.99 each; space is limited.

4th Annual Michigan Brewers Guild Detroit Fall Beer Festival

The week will cap of with the Michigan Brewer's Guild Detroit Beer Festival on Friday, October 25th and Saturday, 26th at Eastern Market. This, like the other Brewer's Guild festivals, will be a blast and will feature beers from all over our great state. Check their event page for more details.
