Muskegon’s Inside the Mitten closes out 2nd year of Michigan Beer, Wine, & Music

Muskegon’s Watermark 920 closed out the 2nd year of their Inside the Mitten series with performances by Phoffman, Joe Sturgill, and Bob Buchanan. For those not familiar, the event keeps it local with Michigan musicians, beer, wine and local food and coffee vendors. Two-hearted ale was the draft selection of the night, whereas past previous have included Bell’s Octoberfest and Founders All Day IPA included among a variety of local bottled beer and wine.
Up first for the night was Bob Buchanan, a Michigan-based songwriter and performer with connections going back to the mid-60’s, followed by Joe Sturgill who is most known as the frontman of local Muskegon based jam band Four Finger Five. Four Finger Five recently performed their final hiatus/send-off show at Founder Brewing Company. Another Muskegon native, Paul Hoffman AKA Phoffman rounded out the night’s musical lineup known for his work with Greensky Bluegrass. Past Inside the Mitten performers have included Seth Bernard and the Family Business, UV Hippo, and Funktion.

Along with the Michigan-based music & drinks, local vendors were on hand to provide food and coffee. Fatty Lumpkins sandwich shack was on hand to provide a variety of sandwiches and cookies for dessert. Drip Drop Drink’s gourmet style coffee is a recent addition to the Inside the Mitten lineup; The new cafe will be joining Muskegon’s first microbrewery Unruly Brewing Co among the initial tenets of the currently under construction Russell Market building downtown.

On January 26th, Watermark Live will be celebrating Michigan 176th birthday with Party in Your Parka at the Muskegon Winter Sports Complex. Like the Inside the Mitten series, Party in Your Parka will feature Michigan beer and wine as well as music from previous Inside the Mitten performers The Crane Wives, local vendors and a “Made in The Mitten” art fair. The World Snurfing Classic event will be revived in Muskegon, as the first ever event was held here back in 1968.
