Clubhouse BFD

Clubhouse BFD in Rochester Hills is a truly a mighty bastion of craft beer. The “BFD” stands for “beer, food, drink”, and while that might seem a little redundant, the beer part of the acronym rightly does deserve its own recognition at the Clubhouse. The business is owned by Scott LePage, whose father you may know as the owner of Big Rock Chop House and the forthcoming Griffin Claw Brewing Company in Birmingham, so there’s definitely a pedigree of success and beer knowledge in play here.

Hank's Tavern in Muskegon

Veteran Restaurateur Hoby Thrasher promised something new for Muskegon with the new Hank’s Tavern, and on Saturday, December 1st he has delivered. The Henry / Sherman St. location is not new; Previous businesses at this location have included a bank and fast food pizza joint with the short-lived Bonfire restaurant being the most recent tenant. However, this time around Hoby has really outdone himself transforming the building which once felt small and cramped to an expansive and vibrant atmosphere which will be sure to impress anyone familiar with the building’s former occupants.

Bagger Dave's Grandville Location

Bagger Dave’s legendary burger taverns have been around for over 5 years. With locations now in 10 Michigan cities, I recently stopped in one of the newest locations in Grandville to see what the fuss was all about. Michigan beers are served exclusively here, and the menu is very pro-Michigan as well. Add great service to go along with the great food and beers, and I can see why these restaurants are so popular. Also for the first time, franchise restaurants have now expanded Bagger Dave’s outside of Michigan borders with an Indianapolis location and also a location in Cape Girardeau, MO.

Schuler Independent Bookstore in Downtown G.R. Boosts Books with Beer

Of course, everyone knows that Michigan Craft Beer is booming. However, Craft beer still has a long way to go to catch up to the “big guys.” Local independent booksellers are also struggling to keep up with the big guys, and perhaps this is why for the last couple of years or so, one such bookseller has made the move to latch on to the State’s growing beer and wine industry by offering alcoholic beverages for sale in their downtown Grand Rapids bookstore.

New

Whiskey and Eggs sounds good ? The Rehab Brunch at Stella’s Lounge might just be your thing. Add in Tequila Sunrise Eggs and a Bloody Mary bar from noon until 1am every Sunday if you haven’t made up your mind yet. Chill out on some of Stella’s vintage arcade games and pinball machines (and throw some tunes on the jukebox) while you decide....

7 Monks Taproom: Traverse City's Destination Beer Bar

Currently, Traverse City is home to many great breweries worth visiting but to pass up on a great beer bar like 7 Monks Taproom would be a mistake. A whopping 46 taps are featured, with several new tapped daily. Check their website / Facebook regularly to get the latest offerings.

TopShelf Pizza & Pub is Muskegon's Best Kept-Secret!

Could TopShelf Pizza & Pub be Muskegon's best kept-secret? Located on a side street off from Apple Ave, (look for the sign!) it could be easy to miss from the main street. However, barely three months into the year, they've already been through enough Founders' beer to earn them a reputation as "Founders' West." Personally, I count at least 2 tappings of Better Half, in addition to multiple kegs of Red's Rye, Double Trouble, and Porter as well as an undisclosed amount of bottles of Kentucky Breakfast Stout, at a minimum; and I've not been keeping track.

Review of One-Eyed Betty’s in Ferndale

Proceeding it’s opening on Superbowl Sunday, I don’t think One Eyed Betty’s Beer Bar & Kitchen in Ferndale anticipated the capacity of patrons it draws. Retrofitted in the former Cantina Diablo’s, One-Eyed Betty’s’ industrial ambience is inviting with its sturdy wooden small-party and community tables, booths, and high-tops. Large-scale art installments from local artists make this new hub feel like home.

Review of Clubhouse BFD (Beer Food Drink) in Rochester Hills

A “Happy Valentine’s Day” indeed to craft beer lovers in Rochester Hills – Clubhouse BFD finally opens on February 14 after a delay, building anticipation of this new craft beer mecca for almost a month.
