There were 11 beers to choose from and you could get them in a snifter or get a flight with 5 - 4oz samples. The beers that were there were the Barrel Aged Triomphe, Curieux, Shipwreck Porter, Burton Baton, Backwoods Bastard, Bourbon Huma, JJ Dead Guy, Dragon's Milk, Bourbon Dragon Slayer, Envious, & Bourbon Plead the 5th. We decided to get two flights and the only beer we didn’t get was the Dragon’s Milk since we have had it several times before. The beers that stood out to me were the Darkhorse Bourbon Plead the 5th, Arcadia Shipwreck Porter and Founders Backwoods Bastard. They are all great beers!
After a few of the beers we felt it was in our best interest to get an appetizer to help with all the high gravity beers. We chose the spinach and artichoke dip with the pita bread. I must say that pita bread is a much better option than the chips. The dip was great I loved that it had big chunks of garlic. It’s not good for the ladies but it sure is tasty!
This was my first barrel-aged beer event. The Shark Club did a great job of getting a good variety of beers from across the state and also few good ones from out of state. I hope they do this again soon because I had a blast and loved trying a few new beers but also getting to have some old favorites again along with some beers that are hard to get.
