Award-winning Walldorff Brewpub has a lot to celebrate!

With their 6th anniversary just around the corner, Walldorff Brewpub has a lot to celebrate. In addition to the many award-winning beers brewed here, the Hastings brewpub recently was voted the number 1 “Made in Michigan” brewery in the July/August 2012 edition of Michigan Travel & Vacation magazine. My friends and I figured it was due time to pay the pub another visit.
Walldorff has menu with a little bit of everything; pizzas, burgers, soups, appetizers, and salads just to name a few. Don’t expect a Waldorf salad, however. The brewpub takes its name from historic brick building built in 1868 where it makes its home. A variety of salads are offered, but we chose to start with the Gouda & Spinach Crab Dip while we sampled our first drinks. We also tried the Guacahummus; an interesting blend of guacamole and hummus served with pita and tortilla chips.

The beer menu includes a half dozen mainstays as well as several seasonal and specialty beers. I started with the double dry hopped American Brown ale which is sure to please fans of a hoppier brown beer. With our dinner, we enjoyed the seasonal Sundancer Summer Wheat. Popular dinner items included the Highway Robbery; a wood fire grilled pizza featuring chicken, beans, BBQ sauce, and jalapenos, and also the Monte Cristo; a deep-fried ham turkey and swiss sandwich on sourdough complete with side of raspberry dipping sauce. Beer is available in the to-go refigerator in 6-packs and even pre-filled growlers. We chose to end the evening with a sample of the Bee Sting Honey Rye which had just the right amount of sweetness for my tastes.

Walldorff is open 7 days a week with frequent live music on the weekends. The 6th annual Walldorff anniversary bash is scheduled to start at 6 PM on Saturday, July 28th. $5 will get you in the door with live music, BBQ, and 3 limited release anniversary ales. The entertainment includes The Twistin' Tarantulas, Big Willy, Freelance Brothers of the Revolution with host Dan Warlldorff. Sounds to me like a good reason to stop by If you are new to the brewpub or haven’t visited in awhile.
