taste of muskegon 2015

This year’s Taste of Muskegon took place in Hackley Park downtown with food vendors, live music, local beer, and a chance to vote for the year’s coveted People’s Choice award. Featured breweries on tap included Fetch Brewing of Whitehall, as well as Pigeon HIll and Unruly Brewing both in downtown Muskegon. Not only were these breweries present on tap, but also many of this year’s winning food vendors had connection to the local brewery scene.
Winning two awards this year was Bone Ends which included their BBQ Beercheese Poutine made with Fetch Brewing beer and barbecue sauce. This won the Best Appetizer category along with their Spicy Pig Tacos winning the “Bud and BBQ” category. Bone Ends food truck often parks outside Fetch Brewing Co. during the week so their awards were no surprise to the many who have enjoyed their food along with some Fetch beer up in Whitehall.

Another winner with Fetch Brewing connections is Ice Box Brand Ice Cream Bars who have featured a Mango IPA Ice Cream Bar made with Fetch’s Swagger IPA. Ice Box Brand has also collaborated previously with Pigeon Hill Brewing Co. for their Belly Full of Hoppiness bar which includes LMFAO Stout along with a pretzel crust, chocolate, and dry roasted peanuts. Unruly Brewing’s own in-house pizza shop Rebel Pies took this year’s People’s Choice award and debuted a new pizza, the Windy Wiener, which featured Chicago Dog ingredients.

This year also featured an amazing music lineup which included the Stolen Horses band and Delilah DeWylde and the Lost Boys. This year’s Taste of Muskegon was well attended and by the end of the two-day event, many of the food vendors were running low on supplies. Many new restaurants were featured and Taste of Muskegon has announced that they will be returning for the third weekend in June of 2016.
