Picture yourself standing on the state’s only NASCAR Sprint Cup racetrack, the lingering feel of race day adrenaline still in the air. Instead of seeing race cars and engines roaring you hear people talking and laughing the clink of glasses hitting each other and people making toasts. This is the sounds of the fifth annual Michigan Wine and Beer Fest brought to you by Experience Jackson and MIS.
On May 10 MIS will be taken over with some of the best Michigan Wine, Beer and Food the state has to offer. There will be no aggressive display of racing prowess, just Riesling, Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet and more than over 100 other varieties of wine. There will be Stouts, IPA's, Pilsners, Lagers and more. With more than 10 new wineries attending this year there will be something for everyone.

Back this year are Randy's BBQ and Uncle Dave's Specialty Foods, new to the fest are Mindo's Chocolate Makers and U.P. Pastries Company. Fabulous Wine, Beer and Food makes for a perfect day at the race track.

When talking to MIS President Roger Curtis he had this to say, “Michigan wine is a celebration of this state, and word is spreading about how enjoyable the previous festivals have been. Being able to taste fantastic wines from all over the state, getting personal service from the vintners and then having the option to purchase those wines in our retail store truly makes this a must-attend event.”

Guests who sample a favorite wine or beer has the opportunity to check out the on-site retail store where they will have select wines and beer available for purchase by the bottle or case. MIS is very excited that they are one of the few festivals able to sell select wines and beer to event goers.

Throughout the day enjoy different seminars covering wine, food and other topics of interest. Last year Paul Gospodarczyk, a Certified Sommelier and Consulting Winemaker, led the sessions. He has a B.S. in Fruit Science and Enology and is completing an M.S. in Agricultural Education with a graduate minor in Food Science. Live entertainment will also be featured throughout the day.

Advance tickets for the Michigan Wine and Beer Fest presented by Experience Jackson are $30. Each ticket includes 10 tasting tokens.

Don't want to drive after the Wine and Beer Fest? MIS is opening the track 's Graves Farm Campground for $35 (nonelectric sites) and $50 (electric sites). Want to stay right on the track? They also have various sized RV's that you can rent.
