Handsome Henry’s in Muskegon recently hosted their first “Chef’s Table Beer and Wine Dinner Series” featuring a four-course meal paired with choice of beer selections from Spring Lake’s Odd Side Ales or wine from Chateau Grand Traverse Winery in Traverse City. I stopped by with a group of friends to check out the dinner which began with a sample appetizer of Teriyaki Wings. I chose the beer pairings and the first beer up was the Hop Gobbler Extra Pale which paired amazing with a Thai Noodle Soup that had a surprising ginger kick.
All of the pairings worked quite well. The second course featured a Mango Chopped Salad with Firefly Habanero Papaya Pale Ale and the main course was Coffee Braised Pulled Pork Tacos with Bean Flicker Coffee Blonde Ale. Last but not least, for dessert we were served Dark Chocolate Raspberry Tiramisu paired with Morningwood Bourbon Barrel aged Oatmeal Coffee Stout. Those who chose to do the wine pairing were equally impressed with the combinations served.

Handsome Henry’s and Odd Side Ales both will be celebrating 5 year anniversaries this year. Odd Side Ales is currently in progress of moving production into an upgraded facility as well as renovations to their pub so expect big things from Odd Side later this year. Handsome Henry’s will be celebrating their 5-year anniversary Sunday March 15th with Deep Dish pizza specials. Chef Cody Christensen had recently stepped up as the new owner as well having recently purchased Handsome Henry’s from previous owner Hoby Thrasher. A new food menu we will be debuting on March 12th, and 5 barrel aged beers are due to be tapped along with a couple specialty releases from Perrin.

Handsome Henry’s is also part of the Beer Hound membership card program. Stop in and use your card to receive 20% off your food order.
