Sawyer’s Greenbush Brewing Co. is getting ready to celebrate their 3rd anniversary in style, and if you are not already a “friend with benefits,” you may want to join right away. Of course, “Friends with benefits” is the name of the Greenbush mug club and following this year’s anniversary, the price is being raised from $40 for a lifetime membership to $60. Now, $60 for a lifetime membership is certainly still a steal, but if you are like me and have been thinking about joining up for awhile now, the $40 price-tag might just be the incentive to hop in the car and make the drive- at least this was my decision! (Note: Greenbush also was offering limited phone orders on the Mug Club for awhile just to help keep up with the increased demand.)
From my past visits to Greenbush, one thing I’ve discovered is that there is no perfect day or time to plan a stop as the pub is almost always busy. Keep in mind Mondays are 1/2 off pours for mug club members, and Wednesdays are discounted growler fills which helps keep the brewery busy all week long. We were fortunate to get a table during our visit and there is a bell at the bar reserved for each new member joining the club. I was member #2848 and there were several others who joined throughout the afternoon! My new mug was brought out to me right away and I chose a delicious Sunspot Hefeweizen for my very first pour.

Many may have seen Greenbush pushing their new “7-packs” in early April. (Hint, very early April as in possibly even April 1st?) While many have searched their local beer stores only to be disappointed to find they’ve “sold out” or that supply greatly exceeded demand, you need not worry as the brewery still has ample supply of the 7-packs available right at the brewery as well as more traditional packaging of their products available as well. The Greenbush deli also continues to be a hit with pulled pork and beef brisket included along with many sandwich options. (Be on the lookout for the Greenbush Brisket Van making the rounds throughout Benton Harbor, St. Joe, and Niles.)

The official Greenbush 3-year anniversary party is this coming Tuesday, June 10th and will be going on all day from opening at 11:30 AM to close at 10:00 PM. Beer discounts, speciality tappings, etc. will all be featured including the Huggy Bear Anniversary Ale, a 7.1% ABV IPA dry-hopped with local hops from Bridgman. Also featured throughout the day will be trivia, giveaways, and commemorative merchandise to be previewed at the event. The time is now to become a Greenbush friend with benefits!
