Midtown’s Jolly Pumpkin Pizzeria and Brewery is preparing to celebrate its second anniversary this April, and as spring approaches, the brewery has refreshed its menu to provide new and unique offerings.
“Between hosting President Obama for lunch, raising awareness for barrel-aged sour ales and becoming a familiar favorite for Detroit locals, we’re very happy with our growth as a business over our first two years,” said David Mammel, general manager. “We’re proud to be a part of Detroit’s renowned dining scene and to continue serving as a neighborhood gathering place.”

Jolly Pumpkin’s new menu features a selection of new pizzas, salads, sandwiches and more, while retaining some fan favorites. Joining the popular Brussels sprout salad is a Cauliflower Salad, featuring roasted cauliflower, arugula, faro, smoked bacon lardons and pickled radishes drizzled with buttermilk cheese dressing, and an expressive twist to the traditional burger, the Lamb Burger, a cumin-spiced pastured lamb patty topped with white cheddar, garlicky spinach, red onion aioli and a fried egg, served on a fresh Challah roll.

Other unique items new to the menu include:

  • Cuban Pork Sandwich – A generous portion of spiced pork shoulder served on ciabatta and topped with prosciutto, raclette, McClure’s pickles and Fresno chili aioli.
  • Mushroom and Black Bean Burger – Topped with smoked mozzarella, pickled onion, arugula and chipotle mayo, served on a fresh Challah roll.
  • Grilled Chicken Pizza – Featuring balsamic caramelized onions, granny smith apples, thyme, mozzarella and honey-whipped goat cheese.
  • Prosciutto Leek Pizza – A unique play on the traditional pie, this expressive creation blends roasted fingerlings, raclette, mozzarella, prosciutto and braised leaks.

“Our new menu represents the changing tastes of today’s diner while offering nothing but the highest quality options,” Mammel said. “Jolly Pumpkin has a relaxed and friendly gastro-pub atmosphere, so you can drop in on a whim with friends and enjoy a dish or a beer crafted with fresh, local ingredients.”

Since opening its Detroit location, Jolly Pumpkin has strived to use locally-sourced and Michigan-made ingredients by partnering with businesses such as Avalon International Breads, The Brinery, Guernsey Dairy, McClure’s Pickles and Ann Arbor’s Sparrow Meats of Kerrytown Market.

The Midtown pizzeria and brewery, located at 441 Canfield St. in Detroit, is the brand’s fourth location, joining Traverse City and Ann Arbor restaurants, and a tap room in Dexter. Thousands have visited the Detroit restaurant to taste the artisanal food and beer, and experience the grass roots Detroit vibe.

Featuring a casual order-and-eat approach, patrons place their orders at a cash register in the back of the restaurant and then take their seat at a table of their choosing where a staff member will drop off their meal. Atmosphere is warm and inviting, featuring reclaimed pallet wood, antique lighting, a copper bar with a giant oak barrel, and large communal-style picnic tables and wooden booths.

Jolly Pumpkin Pizzeria and Brewery is open 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday. For more information, visit www.jollypumpkin.com.
