Oktoberfest Dinner & Brew Cruise on MI Princess

Batch Brewing Company has chosen to expand their beer distribution across Michigan with M4 CIC Distributing. After 2+ years in business, the demand for Batch Brewing Company’s beer has outpaced their bandwidth for self-distribution. With more than 100% growth in 2016, and targeted growth of nearly 100% in 2017, distribution will become a bigger part of the brewery’s business model.

Two breweries along the Detroit and Windsor riverfront, Batch Brewing Company (Detroit, MI, USA) and Motor Craft Ales (Windsor, ON, Canada), have released their latest collaboration beer, Under the Spreading Chestnut Tree. The rosemary and chestnut pale aleis brewed with Michigan malt and chestnuts. Motor City Malthouse’s German-style malt and Treeborn’s chestnuts are accompanied with a clean yeast profile, allowing the rosemary’s herbal and piney qualities to shine, while the chestnut sweetness provides depth to the beer.

With the Michigan Brewers Guild Fall Beer Festival in Eastern Market around the corner, Detroit breweries have come together to collaborate, starting a new fall beer tradition in the city. Atwater Brewery, Batch Brewing Company, Brew Detroit, Detroit Beer Company, and Motor City Brewing Works developed the idea together while sharing pints, as well as their passion for the craft.

For years, downtown Detroit’s microbrewery scene has lagged behind the rest of the state. There has been a recent influx of new restaurants and bars into the city, and, in February, two breweries in the Corktown neighborhood located just west of downtown.

I have always loved the Detroit area even though I grew up in the Lansing area. I have fond memories of visiting family and friends all over the city and suburbs. I am especially excited to see all the new breweries going up in the Detroit area and becoming a part of the rich history that Detroit is rebuilding.
