This summer the Greater Grand Rapids area will have another brewery for beer lovers to quench their thirst at: Perrin Brewing Company. Even though they’re not open yet, they had a special “First Drip” tapping last week of their Vanilla Porter at Hopcat in downtown Grand Rapids. I’ve been to Hopcat when it’s busy and slow. On a Tuesday evening they usually draw a decent crowd thanks to their half off beer special starting at 6pm, but last Tuesday was something special.

We need your help for Grand Rapids to WIN Beer City USA!
Written by Ryan RanspachGrand Rapids is on the cusp of something very exciting. A few years ago, the venerable Yoda of American home brewing, Charlie Papazian, started a national poll contest called, "Beer City USA". The idea was to create a poll that went beyond sales statistics and market research to determine where in the country the most excitement and enthusiasm existed for craft beer. As craft beer has always been more about people rather than huge numbers and output, it was fitting that a poll like this be created. It gave the true lovers of craft beer a voice and the chance to stand up and declare their town, "Beer City USA"!

Hennessy's in conjunction with Saugatuck Brewing Co. has brought a new Irish Stout to the Muskegon Market
Written by Dan VanderKooiWest Michigan has a solid Irish Stout connection that no one can dispute. Decades ago, Guinness beer was actually brewed right in Muskegon. Founded in 2000, Muskegon is also home to Michigan Irish Music Festival, held in September of each year. A few years ago, and in conjunction with this festival, Schell's of Minnesota introduced "Irish Fest Stout" and rolled it out to tap rooms across Muskegon as well.
