Saugatuck Brewing Co. recently opened up their brew house for their sold out Inaugural Barrel Aged Bootleg Bash. Tickets were $15 and included 10 drink tokens good for sample pours and a special event sampling glass. I was fortunate to be able to attend with some friends. Being able to hang out in the brew house was an enjoyable and unique opportunity. The Banquet Hall also featured a casual environment including live music.
Barrel aged bottle releases for the event included the following:
  • Oatmeal Stout 5.5% ABV Jim Beam & Heaven Hill for 12 months
  • Java Stout 4.6% ABV Jim Beam for 15 months
  • Imperial Stout 9.0 % ABV Jim Beam for 13 months
  • Neapolitan Stout 6.8% ABV Woodford Reserve & Heaven Hill for 9 months
  • Not Messin’ About Double IPA 7.7% ABV Woodford Reserve & Buffalo Trace for 2 months
  • Darker Than Your Soul Stout 6.5% ABV Heaven Hill, Buffalo Trace, & Wild Turkey for 12 months
  • Dramanatrixxx Stout 8.5% ABV Jim Beam for 15 months
  • 2013 Olde Ale 12.0% ABV Jim Beam & Heaven Hill for 12 months

Some of the above were featured in 22 oz bottles and others in 12 oz bottles. There was a bottle limit for each beer that was contingent on supply & demand. The 2013 Olde Ale was only available for purchase via raffle. Each of the above was also available on draft via one of three different Drink Stations located throughout the brew house and banquet hall.

Also featured on draft only was the Barrel Aged Reverent Monk which was aged 12 months in Wild Turkey and Heaven Hill barrels. The banquet bar also included a selection of non-barrel releases: Hop on a Blonde, Beam Me Up Stouty, Big Bertha Barleywine, and Mandarina IPA.

This event serves as the kick off event for 2015 for the brewery which in June will be celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the pub. Please keep an eye on their facebook page for other events and releases planned in the celebration of a decade of Saugatuck beer.
