Recap of Rockford Brewing Company 3rd Annual Pub Crawl

Rockford Brewing Company unveiled 7 new beers and brought back 2 favorites for their 3rd Annual Pub Crawl, a now pre-Thanksgiving night tradition in downtown Rockford. This year’s crawl featured the debut of two new locations: Ramona’s Table located in a renovated 100+ year old building on Squires Street Square and Uccello’s taking the place of Sam’s Joint which had closed before last year’s pub crawl. Marinades which shares a bar with Grill One Eleven, also served as an additional stop this year and Grill One Eleven was featuring their own nano-brewed Oatmeal Stout on tap along with Rockford and other craft beer offerings.
Sustenance is key to any good pub crawl and this year’s participating bars and restaurant provided plenty of variety for food options. My group of pub crawlers chose to dine at Reds on the River and sample some of their delicious new menu options which included Moroccan Cauliflower and Lobster Grill Cheese. The pub crawl beer featured here was the 2014 Butternut Spiced Ale, a seasonal brew that was debuted at last year’s crawl. Also returning for this year’s crawl was the Blackfin Black IPA. New beers for this year included:
  • Big Jack Horner, an 11.2% ABV Michigan Plum Barleywine (tapped at the brewery)
  • Cuppa Pale Ale featuring Colombian Coffee from Herman’s Boy
  • Beanilla Brown, a vanilla Brown Porter
  • 3 lagers (Donk Dunkel, Frozen Helles, Neckbeard Vienna Lager)
  • Stiker IPA with Simcoe and Amarillo hops

The inaugural pub crawl in 2012 featured the first ever debut of now classic Rockford Brewing recipes such as Sheehan’s Stout, Hoplust IPA, Rogue River Brown and Carriage House Ale prior to the opening of the brewery in December 2012. Since then, the pub crawl has served as a pre-anniversary party of sorts with previews of new recipes before they become available at the brewery and elsewhere. Rockford Brewing Company will be celebrating their 2nd anniversary this year on December 20th with a special performance by Paradigm, a rock and jazz band featuring all Rockford Brewing Company employees. This year will also include the return of the Belgian Multigrain Anniversary Ale.
