For Muskegon’s Pigeon Hill Brewing Company’s 1-year anniversary celebration, the brewery brought the party out onto the street with a tent extending out onto Western Avenue for 2 days of pizza, beer, and bands. The weekend featured a series of timed barrel aged beer releases including some exclusives, as well as a variety of styles of music to enjoy. I made sure to attend both days to fully appreciate the brewery’s anniversary experience.
Friday began at 4 PM with a tapping of barrel aged McSwick, possibly my favorite of the bunch. Friday’s entertainment lineup featured solo acoustic artist A Northern Song from Muskegon followed by the old school rockabilly trio from Grand Rapids, Delilah DeWylde and The Lost Boys. 3 different barrel age releases were spread throughout the day on Saturday starting with a Coffee Brown tapped at noon. Performances included Logan White and Dragon Wagon, both from Ann Arbor, as well as Ludington’s Chad Rushing. Golden Strong and Wild Rumpus barrel aged releases were both tapped in the evening.

Forno De Pizza of Grand Haven was featuring gourmet pizzas with quality ingredients from their mobile wood fired pizza oven. Pigeon Hill’s neighbors Topshelf Pizza also kept very busy during the celebration and tapped Founders KBS during the anniversary weekend as well for those taking a break from the festivities next door. Pigeon HIll has another busy year planned ahead for them; Currently in progress is a million dollar plus expansion which has included the recent purchase of Western Avenue building (former Club Envy) for boosting production and distribution of several mainstay beers including the Walter Blonde Ale and Shifting Sands IPA.
