Gravel Bottom Craft Brewery & Supply opened in 2013 in Ada with a unique concept functioning as both a homebrew store and craft brewery. With a brew house directly behind the bar, Gravel Bottom has allowed patrons an educational experience along with their beer or in essence a brewery tour without having to leave their seat. For Gravel Bottom’s first year anniversary in 2014 they celebrated with over 15 different beers available on tap, and this year saw them doubling that number with 30 different beers on tap.
This year’s celebration included an anniversary tapping of the Batch 200 Segundo Double IPA which clocks in at 10.5% alcohol and was brewed with over 10 pounds of hops. Other featured brews included the Rocky Rail Brown Ale which was a collaboration with Railtown Brewing Company and included vanilla and black walnuts as ingredients. Barrel aged released included the “Undead” Risen Imperial Stout and the return of the Beer Hound Brown first brewed with Gravel Bottom in 2014. The event also featured live music from Paul Wojciak and $10 plates of BBQ from Chef Ed of Oink! BBQ Co. with included side of chips, coleslaw, and pit beans.
On Saturday, November 7, Gravel Bottom will be hosting an American Homebrew Association (AHA) Learn to Homebrew Day event. There is no cost to attend and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. the public is invited to stop by the brewery and learn a little bit about the craft of homebrewing. The event will feature guest speakers from Pilot Malt House, Brewery Vivant, Crankers and others and there will be an all day Fall sale of homebrew supplies at Gravel Bottom’s store.
