$10 general admission was the price to get in to the Founders Taproom for their annual Black Party featuring a tap lineup of the the best, newest, and speciality releases of the brewery’s darkest offerings ranging from Black IPAs to barrel aged breakfast stouts. The price included commemorative pint glass, the first pint of any tier 1 beer and an evening of live music. Food is extra but specials included $4 Dirty Bastard Bratwurst and other special offerings featured just for the day.
Live music started after 5 PM with a trip-hop influenced solo set from Angela Sheik. Oracle featuring Jeremy Kosmicki of Founders was also featured with their specially themed “black set”.

Also performing were The Collection, Mavericks and Monarchs, and closing the party was DJ Providence. Additional deli specials included rib tips with blackberry BBQ Glaze and jalapeno cheddar corn bread, as well as a bread bowl of bratwurst chili and chocolate marshmallow Big Lushious brownies for dessert.

And of course, the taps were flowing with the dark favorites. Standards included Dirty Bastard, Porter, and Nitro Oatmeal Stout and certainly there was KBS and backstage favorite CBS. Taproom specialties included the All Night IPA, the “Black Berry” Blackberry beer, and Porter in Da Moonlight with vanilla, light-toasted oak, and prunes. Panther Club porter aged in maple barrels was a returning favorite, whereas Lizard of Koz made an impressive debut as an oak-aged chocolate, vanilla, and blueberry Imperial Stout.

Saturday, June 20th is the date that has been set for this year’s Founders Fest. This year’s music lineup is scheduled to include organissimo, Devin and the Dead Frets, and Gringo Star, as well as the not-to-be-missed FBC All-Stars.
