The locations of these new beers will remain a mystery until the day of the crawl, giving the night a sort of a scavenger hunt feel. The goal is to get people into Rockford and pack the doors of all the local bars in a fun and communal event. Participating bars include Reds on the River, Rockford Lanes, Grill One Eleven, Rogue River Tavern, The Corner Bar, Ramona’s Table, Uccello’s and of course, Rockford Brewing Company. – totally 8 Rockford venues.
While the night will be filled with good friends, great beer, and memories to be made, RBC would like to honor friend and colleague, Robert “Bob” Shoemaker. The original Pub Crawl idea came from Bob, who was working for RBC’s beer distributor at the time. Bob was there for the first Pub Crawl helping haul kegs around town. Bob passed away August 10, 2013 while scuba diving in the Grand River. Bob had a passion for scuba diving and working with the Grand Rapids Whitewater Project. For the 2nd Pub Crawl RBC named one of their beers “Blackfin”, a Black IPA, in Bob’s honor and will be releasing it every year as one of the Pub Crawl beers in memory of Bob.
Additionally RBC will be unveiling their 2015 Butternut Spiced Ale, brewed annually during Michigan's fall squash harvest. Butternut Spiced Ale is part of a collection of truly seasonal beers that RBC offers throughout the year, called the "Permaculture Series". The brewery is keeping quiet about all of the new beers but are slowly releasing details via their social media sites and website.
