Kalamazoo Beer Week Kicks Off This Saturday With Over 200 Events Scheduled

Kalamazoo Beer Week starts this Saturday January 10 and ends January 17, 2015. This is an exciting event for any craft beer lover and with events going on every night all week long you have plenty of events to choose from. So get out and talk to the brewers, enjoy a beer dinner and interactive events.
Last year KBW hosted over 200 events in a 8-day period! This year they have added even more fun events for you choose from. Here area a few of the events that looked interesting to me. 

New this year get on the Brewery Trolly and enjoy this free shuttle provided by Dans Ultra Party Bus. The shuttle will run every night of Kalamazoo Beer Week starting at 6pm and ending at 12am. The Brewery Trolly will make stops at Rupert's, Gonzo's, Tibbs, Arcadia, Boatyard and Bells.

If you enjoy a little mystery, ride the trolly Wednesday through Saturday for a chance to meet and talk to one of our mystery brewers.

Kalamazoo Beer Week kick off party starts at The Boatyard, January 9th and runs from 5 to 11pm with a variety of specials on draft beer, growler fills, and their brand new bottled beer will also rotate all night long. Enjoy live music from Robert Rolfe Feddersen from 8 to 10pm. Don't worry about dinner The Tamale Guy and Company will be on site with their expanded menu to satisfy any hunger.

Sweetwater's Donut Paring with Boatyard Beer (Jan 10 - 10am to 1pm)

Amy Waugaman wants to feed your sweet tooth. Boatyard Brewing has paired Sweetwater donuts and BB ales for a fun night of donuts and beer January 10 from 10am to 1pm.

Frankenmuth Ugly Sweater Party (Jan 10 - 6pm to 8pm)

Get out that ugly sweater for one more party on January 10th at Airway Lanes and Fun Center with Frankenmuth Brewery.
Limited styles will be on tap, so plan on showing up early if their is a particular style you want to try.

Sour Sunday (Jan 11 - 2pm to 6pm)

January 11th enjoy Sour Sunday from 2 to 6pm at the Central City Tap House. There you will be able to try flights featuring 2 Lambickx expressions, Lambickx Kriek, Vicaris Triple Gueuze and more.

Atwater Brewery Tap Takeover (Jan 11 - 4pm to 10pm)

Old Chicago Pizza & Taproom want you to taste for yourself why Atwater Brewery is one of the fastest growing breweries in Michigan with an Atwater Tap Takeover January 11 from 4 to 10pm.

Beer and BBQ (Jan 12 - 6pm to 9:30pm)

Tibbs Brewing Company is gearing up for Beer and BBQ on January 12 from 6 to 9:30pm. Brewer Kevin, will talk about the pairing process and how he choose each beer to compliment the Left Coast BBQ from Q-It-Up Catering. With only 36 tickets available this is an event to plan on attending early.

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly (Jan 12 - 6pm)

Have some fun at Shakespeare's Pub with the The Good, The Bad & The Ugly on January 12 starting at 6pm. Shakespeare's Pub along with Right Brain Brewery and Greenbush Brewing Co. have created a collaboration beer of a Double IPA. Each brewery has created the same style with a unique twist. I can't wait to see what each one comes up with.

Dark Death Release (Jan 13 - 3 to 11pm)

Don't let the name of this event fool you, a good time for all will be had at Gonzo's Biggdogg Brewing on January 13 from 3 to 11pm for the Dark Death Release. Dark Death is a stout brewed with an epic amount of four different black malts, I am excited to see this recipe come back from the past.

Bell's Meat, Cheese & Rare Beer Night (Jan 13 - 6pm to 12am)

Are you interested in Bell's not so common beers? Then Bell's Meat, Cheese & Rare Beer Night is for you! Located at Bell's Eccentric Cafe on January 13 from 6pm to 12am, will pair not so common Bell's beers with cheese and charcuteries.

Beer Exchange Chocolate and Beer pairing with Paw Paw Brewing Co. (Jan 14 - 11am to 1am)

Let your sweet tooth out with this event! Paw Paw Brewing Co. is paring Beer with Chocolate all day January 14 from 11 am to 1am.

Dark Horse Brewing Presents the "Anti-Beer Dinner" (Jan 14 7pm)

Dark Horse throws everything you know about a Dinner Pairing out with the window with their “Anti-Beer Dinner” on January 14 at 7pm at Shakespeare’s Pub. This Beer Paring will be with all those fun foods you quit eating after those lean college years, like Hot Pockets, Ramon Noodles, Pop Tarts and more!

Short's Beer and Oysters (Jan 15 - 6pm to 8pm)

January 15th from 6 to 8pm stop by Central City Tap House for Short's Beer and Oysters.

Greenbush Speed Dating at Shakespeare's Pub (Jan 15 - 7pm to 10pm)

Greenbush and Shakespeare’s Pub want to help out local signals. 20 girls and 20 boys will enjoy 2 hours of speed dating, your reward at the end is cool pint of Greenbush beer.

Arcadia's Firkin Friday (Jan 16 - 5pm to 9pm)

O'Duffy's Pub will be hosting Arcadia Brewery for firkin Friday on January 16 from 5 to 9pm. This year enjoy four distict ales straight from the cask.

Bell's Beer Dinner, The Park Club (Jan 16 - 6:30 to 10pm)

If the Dark Horse “Anti-Beer Dinner” was not what you were looking for, stop by The Kalamazoo Park Club on January 16 from 6:30 to 10pm to enjoy their annual KBW dinner featuring five courses and beer pairings.

We Can BREW it! (Jan 16 - 6pm to 11pm)

Boatyard Brewing Company has welcomed Fermenta to Kalamazoo with We Can BREW it! On January 16 from 6 to 11pm try what they brewed up earlier this month.

Saugatuck Shenanigans (Jan 16 - 5pm to 11pm)

Airway Lanes is planning a night of games with Saugatuck Shenanigans. Enjoy twelve Saugatuck beers on tap including some barrel aged offerings and some never before brewed beers, January 16 from 5 to 11pm.

Schmohz Beer and Chicken Wings (Jan 17 (12pm to 4pm)

Schmohz Beer and Chicken Wings at Old Burdick's Bar & Grill (downtown) on January 17 from 12 to 4pm. Grab a plate of specialty wings and enjoy talking to Chaz from Schmohz.

5 Shades of Pale (Jan 17 - 2pm to 1am)

Learn how important of a part yeast plays in the flavor profile of beer at 5 Shades of Pale with Tibbs Brewing, January 17 from 2pm to 1am.

2nd Annual Brewmasters Hangover Brunch (Jan 18 - (11am to 2pm)

End beer week with the 2nd Annual Brewmasters Hangover Brunch. Held at Latitude 42 Brewing, enjoy all your favorite breakfast foods while you learn more about Scott Freights in a Q&A answer session.

Meeting of the KLOB (Jan 19 - 7pm to 9pm)

If after the week of riding the trolly and enjoying the over 200 events they have planned it has inspired you to become a brewer. You can join Kalamazoo Libations of Brewers (KLOB) group. They meet once a month to socialize, educate and talk about craft beer. Join them January 19th from 7 to 9pm at Boatyard Brewing for this months meeting.
