Get out your Mukluks and that fabulous winter coat that you only wear during sub zero temperatures because you are going to want to spend all day at Founders Firkin Freezeout, February 7th starting at 11am. There will be fire pits and gas heaters located throughout the beer garden but layers are still suggested.

In conjunction with Motor City Brew Tours, we will be giving away 2 Saturday free tickets to the upcoming Winter Beer Festival held at Fifth Third Ballpark in Grand Rapids. This festival, along with its summer version held in Ypsilanti, are the premier annual beer events in Michigan. It is also a unique experience in that it is held in the outside in the parking lot of Fifth Third Ballpark, so dressing warm is very important as this is all-day event. Tickets this year Saturday sold out quickly, so if you don't already have them, this might be your only shot at scoring a couple.

This year’s Winter Beer Festival at Fifth Third Ballpark in Comstock Park was another one for the record books. A record number of breweries, a record number of beers, and of course, once again selling out in a record time of just a few hours. For an epic drinking excursion of this magnitude, a degree of pre-fest sustenance is desirable, and I found mine to be had at Brewery Vivant’s Brewer’s Big Breakfast. Menu items ranging from Chicken & Waffles, PB&J Crepe Cake, or signature Duck Nachos were paired up with Monk-Mosa’s (OJ & Farmhand,) plus all of Vivant’s speciality beer fest beers including the Love Shadow barrel-aged Russian Imperial Stout made for a great head start for the big event.

Just as nothing beats an ice cold lager after a hot summer day of yard work, Michigan’s long cold winters are best paired with a strong and flavorful locally brewed craft beer, and what better way to appreciate a locally crafted ale then straight from a firkin? Founders Firkin Freezeout featured 50 different firkins tapped in their new beer garden where thirsty patrons gathered for an afternoon of fun, food, and beverage which included a live ice carving and smoked kielbasa kabobs.

Hello again friends, another year has passed and we find ourselves on the doorstep of the 9th annual Michigan Brewers Guild Winter Beerfest! The last few years have seen ticket sales skyrocketing, with the last four years consecutively beating the record of the year before.

Irish on Ionia, The Annual St. Patrick's Day Street Party hosted by McFadden's Irish Saloon, is back and bigger than ever. Celebrating it's 4th year! This year the festival will streach from Oakes to Fulton, one block further than the previouis three years, from 7AM to 11PM.
