Oktoberfest Dinner & Brew Cruise on MI Princess

For a Best Man, the planning of a proper Bachelor Party weekend can be stressful. Where do you go? What activities should be planned? What is the appropriate budget? All these factors must be taken into consideration along with the main one, which is showing the groom a great time before his big send-off into a new life of marital bliss.

This is a big day at Beer Hound Headquarters as it marks the release of our brand new mobile application. In the works for many months, this app is the next step in enhancing our followers' relationship and experience in their love affairs with Michigan beer.

Our next pairing at the REO Town Pub will feature bacon from Jerome Country Market in southern Michigan and beer from Right Brain Brewery in Traverse City. The event will be held on Thursday, April 18th at 7:00 PM. As with our previous events, we expect a big turnout so please purchase your tickets ahead of time through or website or in person at the Pub.

Today Friday, March 15th, both Reno's locations will be holding tap takeovers featuring the delectable beers of Darkhorse Brewing Company. Darkhorse is a unique and uniquely run brewing operation in the quaint, sleepy southern Michigan town of Marshall. They became famous for their tremendous Crooked Tree IPA but also do many other things very well, including their holiday stout series.

Our next REO Town Pub event will be a beer and pretzel tasting on Thursday, March 14th at 7:00 PM. The delicious, homemade varieties of pretzels will be paired with beers from Detroit's Atwater Brewery in the spirit of a true German festival. As always, the nature of this event will be relaxed and friendly, and the Pub will be featuring other drink specials throughout the night.

Lansing's first ever Art and Craft Beer Fest at the Art Alley building in REO Town was a huge success, and we want to thank everyone involved. From everyone who purchased tickets to Roxaanne, Craig, and Jack from the REO Town Pub, from the volunteers to the bands and artists, and all the breweries and their representatives--this was truly a great night and could not have been pulled off without everyone's support.

Our next event at the REO Town Pub will be a beer and cocolate tasting affair on February 21st starting at 7pm. For this tasting, we will be zeroing in on some of the decadent and well-crafted beers from Dark Horse Brewing Company hailing from Marshall, MI. Dark Horse would be the first to admit that they are an eclectic and strange group of folks, and that they embrace a quirky, small-town, holistic view of brewing. They have become famous for their Crooked Tree IPA, a complex India Pale Ale that has been winner of many awards and boasts an incredible perfect score from "The Bros" at Beer Advocate.

Last month, we celebrated our second anniversary with a delicious and fun dinner at the Soup Spoon Café in Lansing. It was a five course meal designed by the Nick Gavrilides, owner of the Spoon and Jason Blastic, head chef. We were very excited for this dinner not just because it was a milestone for our project but because of the marvelous creations that come out of Soup Spoon’s kitchen each day, and especially for private beer dinners.

The Art & Craft BeerFest is a collaboration between I'm a Beer Hound, REO Town Pub & Mi ArtShare. We will be hosting what is sure to be a great gathering on Saturday, February 2nd from 5-10 PM at  Art Alley which is at 1133 S. Washington in Lansing.

It is difficult to find solace and inner-peace in the afterglow of the holidays. A day or two after New Year's, one starts thinking about the challenges, new directives, and TPS Reports that lie ahead--it can shake a man loose if he's not careful. So for a final sendoff of the holiday season, I travelled to my Spiritual Advisor's house and set to work on planning a large and decadent pot of chili. I am not and have never claimed to be well-versed in chili. I enjoy eating it a few times a year, namely at out annual chili-themed tailgate in the fall, but I play no real role in the production of the dish at this event. Simply, I am no expert at the stuff.
