Bell’s issues automatic, voluntary recall for bottles of Mercury purchased in specific Michigan counties
Bell’s Brewery, Inc. is issuing an automatic, voluntary recall on specific bottles of Mercury: The Winged Messenger which may contain a slight glass defect on the outside lip that could result in small pieces to become dislodged from the bottle.

Tibbs Brewing Company joins Kalamazoo’s emerging small batch beer scene
If you’ve not paid a visit to Kalamazoo in a couple years, a lot has been going on with their local brewery scene. While staples like Bell’s and Olde Peninsula brewpub continue to thrive, the biggest news is of course Arcadia Brewing Company’s recent move from Battle Creek to Kalamazoo with a new productions facility, pub, and restaurant. But while this maybe the most visible and apparent recent addition to Kalamazoo brewing community, behind the scenes another craft brewing revolution is current in progress at the nanobrewery scale with the introduction of several new smaller breweries with brewing systems of 3 barrels and less. To put this in perspective, Bell’s recent expansions have put them in the capacity to brew 500,000 barrels or more a year.

Bell’s brings home two medals from this year’s Festival of Wood and Barrel Aged Beer
Bell’s Brewery, Inc. brought home two prestigious medals from this year’s 11th Annual Festival of Wood and Barrel Aged Beer (FoBAB) held in Chicago this past weekend. Le Bretteur, a specialty beer from Bell’s downtown Kalamazoo brewing team, won a gold medal in the Wild/Brett category.The category is designated for beers that are driven by Brettanomyces yeast fermentation but are not sour.

Coming soon to the Bell’s General Store: GROWLERS
Growlers will debut soon at the Bell’s General Store in downtown Kalamazoo. A mix of year-round, specialty and seasonal selections will be available to go in two-liter bottles that will feature the Bell’s logo and a swing top lid.

First look: Oberon and Two Hearted cans, coming in April
Two Hearted Ale and Oberon Ale will debut in cans beginning in late April, 2014. They will be available to purchase in 16-ounce four-packs in all markets the brewery currently distributes to. Both designs will feature familiar images, but the Two Hearted can design will also bring back a local Kalamazoo artist’s illustration from a previously retired label first introduced in the late 1990s.
