B CorpsBrewery Vivant and Higher Grounds Trading Co released today Higher Grains, a light-bodied, soft yellow farmhouse ale to celebrate the 2017 Gazelle Girl Half Marathon. This is the first time both B Corps have collaborated on a new product. B Corp is short for “benefit corporation,” which is a designation earned by companies that are focused on environmental and social change in addition to profit.

Stormcloud Brewing Company Celebrates 4th Annual Adult Spelling Bee & Fundraiser
The “Best Spellers in Benzie” will be crowned for a fourth consecutive year during Stormcloud Brewing Company’s annual Adult Spelling Bee and Fundraiser. The spring spelling contest takes place Friday, May 5 from 8-10pm at Stormcloud’s Frankfort pub and will raise funding for The Friends of the Benzie Shores District Library.

New Holland Artisan Spirits Earns Eight Medals at 2017 American Distilling Institute Awards
American Distilling Institute (ADI) hosted their American craft spirits awards ceremony on April 4 to celebrate outstanding artisan spirits from across the country. Prior to the event in Baltimore, MD, craft distillers submitted over 680 spirits in the categories of artisan American gins, rums, fruit infusions, brandies, moonshines andwhiskies to an expert panel, who in return performed blind tastings and awarded bronze, silver and gold medals in each category.

HomeGrown Brewing Company, Opens its Doors in Oxford Michigan
Oakland County couple John and Marie Powers welcomed their first official patrons on April 12th when they opened their doors of their micro-brewery, The Powers have spent the last year renovating the former Veterans Memorial Civic Center in downtown Oxford, and showcased their range of craft beers and house-made food to over 400 people at their grand opening.

Hydro Dynamics, Inc. (HDI) would like to announce that the first specialty commercial beer produced using its hop extraction technology is available at Witch’s Hat Brewing Company in South Lyon, MI. The beer is called Citra Wave, playing off of ShockWave, and it isa East Coast IPA made withcitra hops and using the enhanced extraction capability of the ShockWave Xtraction™ Technology to assist in dry hopping. With the ShockWave Xtractor™ technology Witch’s Hat Brewing Company is able to use 30% less of these expensive and often difficult to find hops.

Short's Brewing Co. Announces Release of Sour Series and Specialty New England Style IPA
In true Short's fashion, just one month in advance of their biggest party of the year, Short’s Brewing Company announces the addition of theSalvacious Planemo Sour Series and Slurm to their 2017 Release Schedule. TheSalvacious Planemo Sour Series will begin with the release of Anni Ale 13irteen, a dry hopped American Sour Ale with black currants. Slurm, Short’s first New England style India Pale Ale, will be distributed in May. Both new releases will be served on tap at Short’s Anni Party 13irteen.

New Holland Brewing Releases Dragon’s Milk Reserve Mexican Spice Cake
New Holland Brewing Co. announces the second Dragon’s Milk Reserve of 2017: Dragon’s Milk Reserve Mexican Spice Cake. This limited release variant of New Holland’s year-round, Bourbon Barrel Stout, hits shelves and taps beginning April 1, where New Holland is sold. This reserve blend is aged in bourbon barrels for three months, with toasted chiles, cocoa nibs, vanilla, and cinnamon added during aging.
