Lansing Beer Week Presents: Michigan Beer Tap Takeover Bar Event

The third day of Lansing Beer Week, Tuesday, August 21st, will feature two "Tap Takeover" events. Both will be held in East Lansing, one at Crunchy's and the other just down the alleyway at Beggar's Banquet. These bars, while vastly different in almost every way, have become two of the biggest players in the craft beer scene in the area.

While holding these great events, they have maintained their no-frills persona and continue to serve great burgers in baskets and cold beer in buckets. For this event, the taps will be overrun by Michigan Belgium Style beers, which there are many of and seemingly more of each month. Brewery Vivant of Grand Rapids and Jolly Pumpkin of Dexter have been the big players in this genre and will no doubt be featured at this event.

Beggar's, which is more of a fine (yet relaxed and casual) dining establishment, did some remodeling a couple years ago and in the process vastly expanded their tap system. Many of the beers they regularly feature are from Michigan and for this event, the taps will be taken over by Michigan IPA's, of which their are a multitude. Darkhorse, Founder's, and Bell's quickly come to mind as the big boys of this style.

Whether you hit up the dive-bar paradise that is Crunchy's or the charming quirkiness of Beggar's (or both!) for this event, we promise you will have fun and drink good beer. Specials on food will also be featured at both locations. We hope to see you at the Tap Takeover for Lansing Beer Week!
