Vander Mill Cider Completes $600,000 Expansion and Begins Canning Hard Ciders
Renovated Café & Tasting Room and Expanded Menu Also Offered
One of the Midwest’s largest craft cider producers – Vander Mill Cider & Winery – is introducing a new line of canned ciders. Earlier this year, Vander Mill completed a 3500-square-foot, $600,000 expansion at its facility in Spring Lake. This includes the addition of fermentation equipment and a canning system, which will produce 1800 16-ounce cans per hour. In all, owner Paul Vander Heide estimates his 2013 production to top 100,000 gallons.

Short’s to Short’s Paddle 2013
Short’s Brewing Company is excited to announce its Annual Short’s to Short’s Paddle to occur on Saturday, May 18th, 2013. One of the Midwest’s largest sea kayaking events, the paddle begins outside the Short’s brewpub in Bellaire and meanders 27 miles through Antrim County’s lower Chain of Lakes to the Short’s production brewery in Elk Rapids.

Northern United Brewing Company Hires John Walsh as Head Brewer
In anticipation of the opening of its new 75,000-square-foot brewery in Dexter, Northern United Brewing Company has hired John Walsh as its new Head Brewer for the Jolly Pumpkin and North Peak brands. Walsh comes to Michigan most recently from Maui Brewing Company in Hawaii. Over his brewing career, Walsh has racked up a more than two dozen awards while crafting beer for Hawai’i Nui Brewing Company, Keoki Brewing Company and Oak Creek Brewing Company.

Wolverine State Brewing Company Announces Capacity Expansion
Leading The Lager Revolution Into 2013
The Wolverine State Brewing Company is expanding for the second time in two years. With the arrival and installation of new fermentation and conditioning tanks being added to its cellaring operation, the brewery’s production capacity is doubling. Sales in 2012 exceeded company expectations with nearly 1100 barrels sold between retail and wholesale business.
