GRBC to host anniversary party with $500 sausage-eating contest, limited addition brews, and live music
Grand Rapids Brewing Company (GRBC) will celebrate its one year anniversary as Michigan’s first all-organic brewpub with a sausage-eating contest, signature beers, and live music. The party will be held at GRBC on Saturday, Dec. 14 beginning at 11 a.m.
Arcadia Brewing Company is preparing for the celebration of their 17th Anniversary. The annual event titled, “A Highland Christmas” is a Scottish-themed holiday party and will take place on December 7th, 2013 at Arcadia Brewing Company, located at 103 W. Michigan Avenue in downtown Battle Creek. The event is open to the public. Kilts Their tradition of brewing a unique ale for the event continues. Arcadia XVII is a brown ale brewed with cherries and spices; a perfect winter meal accompaniment.
Our beer tasting event for December will be held just after 7PM on Monday, December 9th at the REO Town Pub in Lansing. This time, we will be pairing Wings from Lansing's own MEAT Southern BBQ & Carnivore Cuisine and beers from our good friends at Schmohz Brewery in Grand Rapids.
The former State Bank Building on Colby St. in downtown City of Whitehall is the new home to the Fetch Brewing Company. The historic location is currently being renovated for the new occupants including a transformation of the original bank vault into a merchandise room to include the likes of t-shirt and mug sales. With plenty of shops and restaurants in the area, as well as year-round activities ranging from sledding and winter sports to the beautiful White Lake nearby, Fetch is sure to be a true destination brewery.
While previous Beer City collaborations have found me travelling to a dozen or more breweries in one week, this current challenge brought multiple breweries to single convenient locations over several weeks. This time the theme was bourbon barrel-aged beers, with numerous breweries offering up their best barrel-aged releases for the challenge. Harmony Brewing Company hosted the first week, with Hopcat, and the B.O.B.’s Brewery hosting subsequent weeks.
BRU Fest brings together beers, burgers, and wings and all for a good cause - to benefit the Children’s Leukemia Foundation (CLF) of Michigan. The event has been success for several years over on the east side of the State in Royal Oak, MI and with the CLF also recently opening an office in the Grand Rapids area as well, BRU FEST has now made it’s Beer City debut!
The Mitten Brewing Co. celebrated it’s 1-Year anniversary with a birthday party featuring balloons, food and drink specials and lots of prize giveaways. Although not necessary to attend the celebration, $15 tickets were available which provided attendees with a commemorative glass with choice of fill and raffle tickets good for winning drinks with the Mitten brewers, a one year mug club membership, as well as additional items.
Bell’s Brewery, Inc. brought home two prestigious medals from this year’s 11th Annual Festival of Wood and Barrel Aged Beer (FoBAB) held in Chicago this past weekend. Le Bretteur, a specialty beer from Bell’s downtown Kalamazoo brewing team, won a gold medal in the Wild/Brett category.The category is designated for beers that are driven by Brettanomyces yeast fermentation but are not sour.
