Fall is the perfect time for pumpkin and harvest (fresh hopped) ales, and there are many different kinds for you to explore this weekend. Harvest ales are some of my very favorites, and many of them feature local Michigan Hops – for those of you interested in more exploration of Michigan Hops, I highly encourage you to pop over to the Michigan Hop Alliance tent, which is full of information and will be pouring multiple Michigan-hopped harvest ales for your enjoyment.

The weekend was cold and rainy but that couldn’t keep the legions of thirsty beer drinkers away from Brewery Vivant’s 4th Annual Wood Aged Beer fest. The brewery has continued to expand the festival to keep up with demand which has gone from overfilling the pub, to the beer garden, to last year the parking lot, to this year a whole stretch of Cherry St. and all this after only over the last few short years. Fortunately large tents awaited those who braved the weather to sample the 20+ specialty wood age release and sour Brewery Vivant specialty beers.

The Zombie Beer Fest that was originally scheduled for October 4th has had to reschedule for Saturday, October 18th, 2014. We are very sorry for the inconvenience of this short notice. “We were faced with a scheduling conflict, and had to decide whether to cancel, or move the date back", said festival promoter Joe Boyer, "We don't want to disappoint the great beer enthusiasts that support our festivals and the intimate atmosphere we provide with Michigan's best brewers.
